Meet the Pigs!

I own 11 guinea pigs in total, 9 sows and 2 boar. All my guinea pigs have their own very fun and unique personalities and are so much fun to see everyday. This lot never fail to amuse me!

                                                                                                  Dusty

Dusty was one of my first boars who is happily bonded to my other boar Alvin. I adopted alvin and Dusty in April when i saw a advert for them on facebook. The little girl who they had been bought for had lost interest in them and decided to put them up for adoption. They were living in small zoozone 2 cage when I got them which is much too small for a guinea pig. They also wern't very social with humans but with time and patience they now trust me and come running to the front of the cage when they see me come into the shed. Dusty is a Black Abbisinion with a white blaze running up his nose. he is a lovely cuddely pig who loves all the attenton!

                                                                                                                                   Alvin

Alvin, along with Dusty, was one of my first boars. I adopted them after seeing a facebook advert for them back in April. It was the typical story that the owners had bought them without doing research. They were living in a tiny zoozone 2 cage and the child had lost interest in them.  They are now living in a big DIY 4.5foot by 2.5foot cage with a playpen attached through the day. Alvin is an american crested guinea pig and is my little ginger cutie! Alivin honestly loves nothing better than food and could eat for england, in fact, i have never come across a food he has turned his nose up to! He is a very friendly and social guinea pig. the other boars, he has come across in his time, he has always gotten along with them well, but loves Dusty the best . Alvin and Dusty are definatly my most confident guinea pigs!

                                                                                                                           Charlotte

Charlotte was my first sow and Im so glad she came to me! I was messgaed one night by a woman who had found Charlotte had been abandoned in a back garden in an indoor cage when the previous owners had moved out! Charlotte was very nervous when i first got her and still can be now but she is much better now. Charlotte lives with the Herd of 8 other sows and loves it! she lives in a spacious DIY cage whichmeasures an area of 36square feet. Charlotte sometimes tries to challenge Caramel for the top spot in the herd, but Caramel is the dominant female of the herd and does put Charlotte in her place if she tries to over step her boundaries. Charlotte is a tri coloured american crested guinea pig with he most adorable face! she is a very lovable guinea pig, but can still be a little nervous with humans, but is very confident with the other Guinea pigs.

                                                                                        Caramel

Caramel is my white and cream guinea pig with a caramel coloured band across her back (hence her name). She has red eyes and has a crest on the top of her head. I got Cramel along with Bella and Millie, from a friend of mine who breeds guinea pigs (in a very humane and ethical way) to come and live with me in my Sow herd. Caramel is the dominant femal. She is definatly the boss and makes sure the younger pigs know there place. She is a very good leader and teacher and teaches the younger pigs to know where they stand, but always looks after them as you can often find her protecting Millie if the bigger pigs try to take advantage of her. Caramel can be quite weary of new things until she knows they're safe. She is a beautiful pig that enjoys napping in her straw. Since being with me her trust of humans has come along so much and is currently eating  out of my hand. Shes a lovely piggy who loves to learn.

                                                                                         Bella

Bella is my very pretty Tricoloured abbisinion and is my big cuddly fluff ball. She is full of personality and definatly my most confident Sow. Bella will come up to you when she thinks you have a treat for her and will happily check you out and make sure you're not hiding and of her treats. She loves to play games such as finding the treat up my sleeve and having to pull food out of a tube ect. Bella is also a very vocal piggy and will squek for attention and food and , well, anything really. She likes to let you know about her presence. Bella came to me with Millie and Caramel from a friend. Bella gets along with all of my girls as she is a very laid back and chilled pig. Eventhough bella is only and abbisionion, she still needs regular grooming and a hair cut now and then because she is a very hairy piggy and things like Shavings, Hay and poop sometimes get stuck in her fur. Over all, she is a lovely piggy to own and a great addition to my herd.

                                                                                                                       Willow

Willow Is my grey and white piggy who is a mischevious teen! I got her along with her sister Pippin from a local petshop when they were brought in as unwanted babies. My friend who runs the petshop messaged me and i went down and took the two remaining babies. I got Willow when she was 7 weeks old. Willow is most definatly my most curious piggy and will explore anything and everything even if it gets her into trouble with the older girls in the group. Willow will explore my hand and take food from it. She loves it whenever i add new things to the cage or switch it around because then she gets to re-explore it all over again! Willow is a very sweet natured piggy and loves her food. She is always the first one to the bowl and eats just as much, if not more than my older girls! She is also a very fast piggy who loves to speed around the cage and loves her very spacious cage for this reason. Most of the time you will find Willow with Millie or sitting in the hay rack hogging all of the hay!

                                                                                                                                Millie

Millie is my baby agouti pig who is stiil growing. Millie came to me with Caramel and Bella, after Caramel adopted Millie at birth after Millie's mother regected her, so as you can imagine Caramel and Millie are very close. Millie is the baby of the group being the youngest one but still gets along fine with all the other girls. She is a very shy piggy not only with humans but also with the other girls , especially the older ones, appart from Caramel. Willow and Millie are best of friends and get along well, i assume this is because they're a similar age. However, Willow's loud and giddy behaviour sometimes clashes with Millies Shy nature and she leaves Willow to play and goes and snuggles with Caramel in the straw area. Millie is however very photo genic and is a natural infront of the camera and often has her picture taken as she is a very good poser.

                                                                                                                               Pippin

Pippin is a white and brown abbisinion who i got when she was 7 weeks old along with her sister Willow. When i bought Pippin she was sexed as a boar. I trusted the petshop and didn't think to check  the sex for myself. I was so wrong. Because i thought she was a boar, she was living with a boar for about 7 weeks, you can guess what happened next. I got her out one day and i though she was very plump. I then realized she was a actually a sow and was pregnant. I was mortified that this had happened. 2 weeks and 2 days later at 4:16 am on the 12th of November 2015, Pippin gave birth to 3 beautiful baby sows. All three pups are happy and healthy and Pippin has been the best Mum i could've asked for. Pippin has a beautifull personality and loves lettuce and any leafy veggies. Her and her babie were intoduced to the herd gradually when the babies were 3 weeks old and now permentantly live in their 36squar foot diy cage.

Nancy (Beigh) , Acorn (Brown) , Jessie (Black)

Nancy, Acorn and Jessie are all Pippin's babies. These 3 girls were born on the 12th of November 2015. I plan to introduce them and Pippin to the herd once they're old enough.

Nancy: Nancy is the most curious and independant of the group. She is a pretty beigh colour with red eyes, and looks exactly like her dad. Nancy will investigate anything and isn't afraid to leave mum's side for a little while. Nancy was Named after my Great Grandmother.

Acorn: Acorn is a very curious and playful pig who is the biggest baby by far! Acorn is the same colour as Pippin's brown patches and has black eyes just like her mum and is the splitting image of Millie! Acorn was named, acorn because of her coat colour.

Jessie: Jessie is the littlest sister of the group and likes to take confidence off her more outgoing sisters and the other pigs in the herd. Jessie is black with one tan coloured leg which leads up to a tan patch on her belly, and black eyes. Jessie was named by myself as i thought that the name suited her very well.
