On Saturday we introduced Pippin and her babies to the herd. At first there was the usual teeth chattering and a few minor squabbles, but there was no fur being pulled or blood being drawn, so I kept them together and after 15 minutes they were all getting along really well. We kept them in the playpen (Neutral territory) for 3 hours to ensure that everything was ok and they would be ok all living together. After the 3 hours with no arguments, we felt confident to put them into the enclosure together for the night to see how they got along, and if they all were still happy in the morning. In the Morning they were all fine, sleeping together and eating together. Because they were all happy, we decided that they should live together permenantly, unless soemthing was to happen, which we would seperate again.

So then on Sunday, we expanded the L-shaped cage that was 20sqaure feet, to a much larger, 36square feet, square-shaped cage measuring 6foot x 6foot. All 9 girls are now living together in this spacious enclosure. I really love the enclosure now because it's big enough for plenty of hides and tunnels and stull ahs tonnes of room to run around and popcorn.I can also sit with them in the cage so that they can interact with me and hand feed them easily, and because I'm in there with them and not hovering over them, they're much more confident with me. I am very happy with the situation and so far, all the guinea pigs are getting along really well.

There new enclosure.
